Hi,

I'm trying to figure out a way to add spreadsheet control to a userform. With excel for windows, you can do this by right clicking userform toolbox and select from Additional control dialog box. However, when i right clicked toolbox on excel 2011 for mac os x, i'm not getting any additional control dialog box. Is there a way to add spreadsheet control in excel for mac or is this not possible on mac version? Thanks.

The additional controls you see in the Windows version are called Active-X controls. Active-X is an open source technology that has not been ported to the Mac, so they simply don't exist on the Mac.

Some people rejoice that these controls have not been ported, as there is a feeling that Active-X has some unsurmountable security concerns that the open source community could never rectify.

To my knowledge there is no project in place in the open source community to port Active-X to the Mac. Since Active-X is open source, any party that wants to could port it to the Mac, but so far there's been no movement in that direction by Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, or any other open source supporters.
