Excel does not update automatically. Why not?

Hi,

one would expect Excel to automatically update the value of a cell, if that cell refers to another cell where the value has changed.

Example: Cell A2 refers to cell A1 ("=A1"). If I change the value in A1, the new value is only displayed in A2 if I hit Enter after the formula "=A1". My expectation is that a changed value in A1 should immediately / automatically be displayed in A2 as well.

Why does this not occur? Did I (unknowingly) change any setting?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Press F9 (function 9) if will responce means, your calculation is set into Manual. Turn into Automatic...

In Excel 2003 and earlier versions, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Calculation tab. Select "Automatic" option under Calculation then OK.

If does not help, maybe ur cell is in TEXT format, change the Format to GENERAL, press F2 (function 2) then hit enter button (refresh).

Does it worked?
