Powerpoint freezes while adding narration

Question

As soon as I try to add narration to a powerpoint slide the program freezes I have to use the task manager to end powerpoint.  I get the folllowing error:

I am operating a windows 7 64 bit system with office 2010. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Varun, I tried this suggestion and it does not work. Each time I try to record audio on a slide powerpoint will freeze and I have to use the task manager to end the program.

Are there any possible conflicting programs - audio / video editors or converters would be favourite.

There are no audio/video editors or converters that I am aware of. There is definitly nothing that I installed.

Disable any active add-ins and see if it helps.

I tired to disable all add-ins and it did not work. As soon as I try to record sound with a slide in my power point presentation, power point freezes and I have to use the task manager to end the program.
