I've entered my 25 digit code, downloaded from the office site, and followed all the prompts. As soon as it finishes, a pop-up says, "something went wrong. We've run in to a problem..." Help.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I will assist you in providing steps to determine the cause of the issue and install Office 2013 successfully on the computer.

I need more information to provide you better solution.

Did you save the download file for Office 2013 on the computer and then tried to install the program or did you straight away click on Run?

Ensure to save the file and then run the setup file to install Office.

One of the common reasons is that, if there is corrupted Office installation files on the computer, Office 2013 cannot be installed. Let us follow the steps.

Step 1:

You may run the fix it from the article below to remove corrupt Office 2013 keys from the computer:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Note: Try to save the fix it tool to the desktop and then run it to remove Office.

If fix it tool failed to run, you may try the manual removal of Office 2013 step from the above article.

Step 2:

Turn off the windows firewall on the computer.

· Logon to Windows 8 computer with administrative credentials.

· Click on Start button and from the options available on the screen click on Control Panel.

· On the opened window click on More Settings option from the bottom of the list in the left pane.

· On the appeared window click on Windows Firewall.

· On Help protects your computer with Windows Firewall Window click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off link that is available in the left pane.

· On the opened window click on Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) radio buttons under both Home or work (private) network location settings and Public network location settings sections to turn the firewall off.

· To save the changes that you have made click on Ok button.

Note: Turn on Windows Firewall once the troubleshooting is completed.

Step 3:

Once the firewall is turned off, try the steps from the section ‘Start an In Private browser session’ in the article below and check if it helps:

I hope the above steps helps. If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Office related issues let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

USELESS information again from Microsoft.  Nice canned response you have, as if most of us Administrators don't know how to do simple installations.  THE CLICK TO RUN is the problem.  How about Microsoft provides people with the ports that need to be opened so we can install this software within a domain?  It installs fine outside of a domain, so OBVIOUSLY it is a port issue, as most people run an outside firewall to prevent intrusion and have ports locked down.  Whereas your home users are able to install because they don't have this kind of hardware.  Not sure what kind of idiots Microsoft employs, but this is a simple solution that isn't hard to figure out.  Just provide the PORTS that need to be opened, and I'm sure everyone will be able to install correctly. Support sucks, I called and was hung up on after being transferred between the same two departments for 3 hours.  All the while asking the same question, what are the ports???????

    WHAT ARE THE PORTS?
