2007 Powerpoint Update Problem

I have the 2007 Microsoft Office Home and Student (OEM) installed in my laptop and it keeps trying to update a security update for the 2007 powerpoint (KB2596912).  Whenever I try to update this item, it errors out with this error number (80070663).  I tried to use the Microsoft FixIt but had no success.  I contacted Microsoft support and after being on hold for 30 minutes, I was told that they could not help me since the program was past the warranty date.  I was told by the tech rep to uninstall the office suite and then reinstall it.  He said that  would take care of the problem.  I did so and the update disappeared after removing the office suite but after reinstalling the office suite, the same update reappeared.  Does anybody have a solution to this problem?   Does Vista have anything to do with this problem?

Try downloading the Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (KB2596912) from the following link and install it manually:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28513

If you are still unable to install the update, run the FIX IT from the Method 2 to manually remove Office 2007 from the computer:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218#Method2

Restart the computer and re-install Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student.
