Excel 2011 Pivot Table Formatting (inconsistent major gridlines, inconsistent subtotal formatting)

  1. When I have multiple row labels, there are no major gridlines separating and grouping the values after first two row labels (left picture problem b), and the gridlines from first two row labels are not extended across (left picture problem a), it's impossible to distinguish the groupings especially when I removed the subtotals.
  2. When I have subtotals for rows, the subtotals for the 3rd row label and 5th row label are not bolded and not highlighted, making them look just like another entry. (right picture)

Example file for the screenshot:

I have tried different styles but they don't seem to work...

Is there any way I can add back the grouping gridlines in Excel 2011's pivot table?

If not, is there any way I can revert the formatting to older excel's pivot table formatting? may be 2008's?

I am really not good with pivot tables, so i hope someone else comes here.

You can try saving the file as .xls and see if it gives you some backward compatibility.

It would be best to share a sample file.

I checked the link but it doesn't have the information i want regarding formatting.

I'm going to add an example to show what I meant by "gridlines not extended across all row labels".
