Proofing errors have been found

After completing a large edit with nearly 5,000 errors, I see that Word 2010 shows an icon at the foot of the screen showing a red cross through a book. Hovering over this produces the message 'Proofing errors have been found. Click to correct'. As I find that F7 gives many silly suggestions (some of them illiterate) I do not accept them all, so no way am I going to let Word just 'fix' the errors it perceives authomatically. How can I see what these supposed 'proofing errors' are indivdually?

If you click, you'll get a shortcut menu that includes suggestions for the first "error." If you click "Spelling..." instead, you'll get the same thing you'd get by pressing F7. But there is absolutely no need to do anything. If you are confident that your document doesn't contain any actual errors, you can ignore the icon. Or, assuming you have "Check spelling as you type" enabled, you can visually scan the document for words with a wavy red underline to make sure you haven't missed anything.
