You are probablyly trying to run a workbook created in a Windows version of Excel on your Mac. There is no way we can help without knowing which workbook and where you got it. The best way is to contact the workbook's author and tell them of the problem and ask for a fix.

    Hi thanks,

You're correct.  It was an xls file (2003) with macros that don't appear to be supported on the Mac and which I couldn't edit.  After some fiddling I have got it run on a PC with Excel 2010 but needed to download the Service Pack.

    Thanks again
