Zenog,

The Analyze Timescale Data in Excel utility was replaced with Visual Reports in Project 2007 and up. If I remember correctly the "Analyze" utility was available as an executable file way back in Project 98 or 2000, but even if you could find a copy, I have no idea whether it would even run with current versions of Project.

Although the new visual reports is more complex and not as easy to understand, it does have much more flexibility than the old "Analyze" utility. Unfortunately it also has some latent issues.

The other option is to use VBA. That approach offers the most flexibility and user control.

Hope this helps.

John

    MPC,

The term "readily available" is subjective and something that "Microsoft is aware of" is a complete unknown. For your reference, those of us who normally respond on this forum do not work for, nor are we associated with, Microsoft in any way. We are strictly volunteers who strive to help Project users with issues.

Over the years I have written multiple macros that export Project's timescaled data to Excel and format it in any number of ways, similar to but much more refined than the Analyze Timescale Data in Excel utility of past. I'm sure many others have done the same thing. Some of that code has been presented in various posts on this forum, (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=project2010custprog). Do a search for exporting timescaled data.

If you're looking for a "quick and efficient" way of exporting Project data to Excel, that may be a bit subjective also. For those very familiar with pivot tables in Excel, the VIsual Reports feature is a good utility and may be considered quick and efficient. In my opinion custom VBA is more versatile. For that I highly recommend Rod GIll's book on Project VBA. http://www.project-systems.co.nz/project-vba-book/index.html

    Hope this helps.

    John

I understand that Analyze Timescaled Data has been removed from the readily available Microsoft Office, and have worked with the updated version, Visual Reports.

However, my primary inquiry is, is there a VBA/Macro readily available; that Microsoft is aware of, as a viable replacement for the Analyze Timescaled Data? Or a quick and efficient way to export data and divide selected fields (such as Fixed Cost) by task.

    MPC --

The answer to your question is the same answer that John gave to the previous user.  Microsoft has removed the Analyze Timescaled Data macro and replaced it with the Visual Reports feature.  What you would need to do is the following:

    1. Open the project on which you want to report, then click Report > Visual Reports.
    2. Select the Cash Flow report for Microsoft Excel.
    3. Click the Level of Usage Data pick list at the bottom of the list of reports and select the Months item.
    4. Click the View button.
    5. In the resulting Excel workbook, select the Task Usage tab.
    6. In the PivotTable Fields sidepane, DESELECT the Cumulative Cost field, and then SELECT the Fixed Cost field.
    7. In the PivotTable Fields sidepane, select the Monthly Calendar checkbox.
    8. In the PivotTable on the left side of the screen, expand the tasks.
    9. If you see years in the column headers of the PivotTable, expand each year so that you can see Months.
    10. Click the Design tab to display the Design ribbon with the PivotTable Tools applied.
    11. In the Layout section of the Design ribbon, click the Report Layout pick list and select the Show in Compact Form item on the pick list.

That is how you do it in Microsoft Project 2013.  The Analyze Timescaled Data in Excel macro is gone, so you have to use a Visual Report instead.  Hope this helps.

With Project & Excel 2013 I am looking for the same quality "Analyze Timescale Data" as was in existence for the 2003 versions of Microsoft Project and Excel.

Specifically for the Cost and Fixed Cost to be transferred from Project into an Excel spreadsheet in months where there is an additional separation by Task and Subtask as is desired.

Is there a way to simply export the data and achieve the desired results through the 2013 version of Office?
