Open the table in design view.

    Click in the currency field.

In the lower part of the window, set the Format property to the custom format

    ¢ #,##0.00

You can't select this from the dropdown list, you have to type it yourself or copy/paste it from this post.

You can enter the ¢ character by pressing Alt+0162 using the digits on the numeric keypad.

Access doesn't support Unicode in standard text boxes, so you're limited to the currency symbols in the ANSI character set: $, ¢, £, ¥, and €. For others, you might use the three character ISO code for the currency, e.g. INR for the Indian Rupee.

    Dear HansV:

Thanks for your response, which is helpful because it contains one of the ANSI symbols I am interested in ( ¢).  I am interested in using the ¢ character.  The problem is that if I set the field Data Type to "Currency", it automatically formats the data with a $ symbol  in Datasheet view, unless of course I change the format property to "Standard", which allows me to still display numbers with thousand separators and decimal places.  How can I have the Data Type show up as, for example ¢250.00, and still be able to use that data for monetary calculations.

    Thanks again for your assistance.

HansV, Thanks Man!  Your solution's perfect.  You have no idea, how many days I spent going through cryptic Access lingo trying to figure this out ( and i am not your average novice).  Thanks for getting straight to the point and helping me fix this.

    Hi,

    I have the same problem.

i'm using access 2010 with web DB (so no design view here),

I have a "billing" field that i want to setup as another currency then $ without changing my regional settings - so the field will always display the currency i selected with no connection to the regional settings of other users of my DB.

Please guide me step by step as slow as you can...

again - this is a web DB - so i cannot edit the field with design view.

    Thanks!
