On Track button does not work

In some of my projects, I have all the tasks created as auto tasks. When I click on the "On Track" button, then I expect that the task % complete is updated to mach the expected % complete to be on track today.

This works very well for one project file, but it does not work for other project files. Pressing the "On Track" button on the other files does not change anything on the % complete (just like the button is not working or not implemented at all).

Any one knows what is wrong? and what should I do to get it working on all projects? It must be some configuration that I should do. Please help.

What is your status date?  The Mark On Track button sets the percent complete as of the status date.  Check your status date on the Project tab.

Thanks a lot. I actually discovered that just now, then I saw your reply. But the strange thing is that on the projects where it is working, the status date is always updated automatically to today (the day that I update the status). The other projects are stuck on a very old date and not updated automatically. Do you know how can I get them to update the status date to today automatically?

Once a status date has been entered, you need to alter the date manually.  Try typing NA over the date in the Status date window to see if that sets it back to using the current date.
