.PKG Installer opens with text edit.

I have downloaded the file from Microsoft and then mounted the disk image but 'Office Installer' simply opens in textedit as script. I've tried opening with Mac OS X installer and that doesn't work either. Any more suggestions? I have OSX 10.8.2

Do a Get Info (Command-I) on the file.

Corrected;

The .pkg  installer opens with Installer. The .dmg installers opens with DiskImageMounter.

Under Open with, select Installer

Select "Change All" button

    Thanks, that's helpful.

    I also discovered that doing a safe boot before starting the installation works.
