Not a valid win 32 application

When I try to run an Access 2010 database with a runtime module on a Vista 64 bit, I get the above error. I also have Office 2010/32bit - if that makes a difference?

I'm thinking the install on Vista went wrong. "Not a valid win32 application" is a very serious error indicating the EXE is damaged or was never meant to be run on Win32 (e.g. an Apple or Linux EXE). Could be a virus.

As another test you could copy the exe from a working machine to the Vista machine in a temp folder, open a Command window, then run fc.exe to do a file compare. Run "fc.exe /?" to get help on the arguments.

So you're saying you CAN start msaccess.exe normally, but not your app? That would seem to indicate your app is starting some other EXE that is invalid.

I understand your thinking I just do not understand why this error is limited to a Vista 64 bit. This application (.exe) works on other windows even Win 7 64 bit.

Sorry, wrong assumption. I use an installation package (with a runtime module included) that works on other computeres without incurring this error.

    Thanks for trying,

I am assuming the same problem happens if you start msaccess.exe? If yes you should uninstall and reinstall; your EXE is corrupt.
