format axis alignment autofit is grayed out

I am using Excel 2010 linked to an Access query.  The number of records changes with each query result.  In 2003 the category labels wrapped text and everything worked fine.  Now with 2010 the category labels are overwriting each other.  Actually, yesterday when I ran some graphs the 2nd part of the multi level category label did wrap, but today using the same graph nothing will wrap.  The autofit is grayed out with the bullet shaded to allow text to exceed the space.  I removed multi level, but it did not solve the problem.  How can I fit this?  This is a really big problem with 2010 and it is very frustrating. HELP!!!!

Thanks,

I'm having the same problem when creating charts that have 2 identifiers in the horizontal axis.  The first one the data is visible but the 2nd is scrunched.  All associated opting within Format Axis-Alignment are grayed out(Autofit and Internal Margins).  Very disappointing Microsoft.

System is WIn7 with Office 10.

I have the same problem although I am not having a link to an Access query but data directly in the same Excel file. The category labels are overwriting each other.   The autofit is grayed out with the bullet shaded to allow text to exceed the space.  I removed multi level, but it did not solve the problem.  How can I fit this?  Please help!

How did you link the Excel to Access query, is it using ODBC or OLEDB???

AFAIK this might be file specific file issue.... What if you recreate the link between the files???
