Title box moves

I have created a slide master where, on the title slide, the 'Enter title here' text box is positioned centrally on the slide and saved this as a template.

When I use the template to make a slide pack, the title text box has moved to the very top left hand corner on the general home screen (but is still in the correct place in the slide master) and I cannot select it any more.  If I add a new title slide, the text box is in the correct place in the centre.  However if I save the presentation with the title in the right place, close the presentation and reopen it, the title has moved to the top left corner again!  If I open the slide master the text box is still in the correct place in the centre.

Is this a bug?  It doesn't happen on any of my other presentations so I'm not sure if its an odd setting.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

It does have a dotted line when you add a new title slide to your pack, and in the master version.  It looks completely normal until you save and close - when you go back into the pack the title text box has moved to the top left hand corner and no longer has a surrounding box (dotted or other) so you cannot move it.  Another oddity is that when you click on the title (that is now in the top left hand corner) a cursor does appear (but still no outline box) - if you add or delete text nothing immediately happens, but if you move to another slide and then back again, your changes to the text have happened.  There is still no outline box though.

If you go to the slide master at this point the title text box is still in the centre of the slide with a dotted line placeholder outline.  Also if at this point you add a second new title slide to your pack (i.e. not the master) the title text box is in the right place (and with the dotted outline) - it is only when you close and reopen that the text has moved.

When I created this master, all I did was start with a standard Powerpoint theme, and edited the master slide pack so that the titles were in the places/colours/fonts etc I wanted them to be.  I then saved this version as a new template (potx file type).  I then opened this template, went to View -> Slide Master -> Themes -> Save Current Theme and then I select this theme when I create a pack and my title problems occur!

Is it maybe because I am doing something wrong between themes and templates?

You probably need to explain step by step how you created the new layout.

Also if you view master and select your new layout

Press ESC twice to make sure nothing is selected. Does your Title placeholder have a dotted outline?? If not then it isn't a placeholder.
