Problem Saving Document Properties

Question

I am using Document Properties in Word and find that some of them (e.g. Author, Company) disappear whenever I save the document - others are saved just fine.  I am having the same problem with multiple documents.  Can anyone help?

Go to File | Options | Trust Center and click Trust Center Settings... Select the Privacy Options tab and make sure that the box for "Remove personal information from file properties on save" is not checked.

It's a "gotcha" in Word that any document that starts out as a .doc file with "Remove personal information from file properties on save" checked at Tools | Options | Security will have this box checked. Even more serious, if you ever once use the Document Inspector to inspect the document and remove "Document Properties and Personal Information," then this box becomes (and stays) checked.

Thank you - that works a treat.  What's more, with that box unchecked, Word now lets me put my own text in those properties and save them!

The Author and Company properties are built-in document properties. They are system generated and not user editable.
