PowerPoint cannot save a presentation

When saving a PowerPoint presentation there are 2 different errors:

"The file is corrupt and cannot be opened."

"PowerPoint found an error that it can't correct. You should save presentations, quit, and then restart PowerPoint."

Have tried repairing Office/PowerPoint. Tried saving as a 97-2003 version. Tried coping and pasting to a new PowerPoint but get the same error.

The problem usually starts after copying and pasting slide(s) from a working presentation to a working presentation. If the additional slides are removed the presentation still will not save. Also the same slides do not always cause the problem.

Anyone have suggestions?

The problem started on a Windows XP PowerPoint 2010 system and is not happening on a fresh Windows 7 PowerPoint 2010 system.

Saving as a different PowerPoint version also does not save.

It can save as PDF but then the presentation is not editable in PowerPoint.

Have you installed any new updates on the system after which the issue started?

Try saving as and see if that works.

Also try saving to a different file format and see if that helps.

Also have tried disabling Protect View but it does not fix the problem.
