Original Title: "Is there a  fix for "Error Code 1317 ?"

Receive the following error message about 50% into initial install.   The path referenced exists and we have sufficient permission to update it. 

Error Code 1317.  "Cannot create the folder.  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\UICaptions. Verify that the path exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it. "

    Hi Richard,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    This error message could be due to the permission issue. Hence we need to give the permission to the particular folder (s) in the error message.

    Follow these steps to provide permission and check if it helps:

    1. On Windows 7, when the error message appears, locate to the folder, and then click Properties
    2. On the property window, click Security tab
    3. Click on advanced at the right hand bottom
    4. Click on change permission.

    5.Click on Add and type ‘Everyone’ and click on OK.

    1. . And then Run Office Setup by using the disc or the installation file. You may also use the Fixit tool in this article and check if it helps.

    If the issue persists, install the Office in the Clean Boot mode and check if it helps. Clean Boot helps to eliminate the software conflicts.
