Error In Loading DLL

Hi Nathan,

I already have all of the latest updates and SP1 installed for Access, and my Windows 7 updates are up to date.

The crashing is happening that when I try to run the wizard to import a text file.

I select the text file, get to the second screen where I select "Delimited", then "Advanced", and then when I click on "Delimited" it crashes.

I have already reinstalled Access using the "Custom" install option, I have tried to run "MicrosoftFixit50753.msi", but it does not complete, so I renamed the 3 files manually and restarted Access. All of these things have not helped me.

The error message that I get is:

"Error in loading DLL"

But it does not say which DLL.

Does this help you in understanding better my problems?

Hi Falcon,

If you are using a 32 bit operating system, you could try going through the steps in this KB article:

833220            "Error in loading DLL" error message when you run a Microsoft Access wizard in Access

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;833220

If you are using a 64 bit OS, then you could try the steps in the KB article below.  The article below requires you to modify the registry.  So if you are not comfortable modifying the registry, I would recommend opening up a case with Microsoft so that we can assist you with the issue.  If you do go through these steps, I would first make a backup of your registry or at minimum of the keys being modified in the registry.  Also make sure you pick the proper key within Step 2 of the resolution section.  You will notice there are different keys here that depend upon the operating system and bit version of Office you are using.

    Hi Nathan,

    Thank you for the information.

I opened my registry and had to modify the permissions on one of them, which is an issue that I have had with Vista, Win 7, and many different programs.

Once the permission to the registry entry was accepted, I was able to do the import of the text file.

I can now consider this issue resolved.

    Hi Falcon,

Based upon the symptoms you have listed and your error message, I it looks like your issue is different than the one addressed on the initial thread you posted it on.  Since it is different, I am going to split your question off into a new thread.

    Best Regards,
