Halo SalaGirl ,
I use:
Internet Explorer 8
OneNote-2010
FoxitReader 5.1 (pdf reader)
==========
SETTING:
In FoxitReader, I go to the Menu > Tool > Preferences > File Associations :
The item "Display PDF in Browser" is checked.
I click button "Make Default PDF viewer" .
In Internet Explorer, I make the "Command Bar" appear.
I customize that bar so that "Send To OneNote" is available.
=========
WORKING:
--- Opening a pdf file ---
In Internet Explorer, I open the pdf file.
Internet Explorer is using FoxitReader for displaying the pdf file.
(You may do this via Windows Explorer. Right-click the pdf file and select "open with" > Internet Explorer)
--- Making my reference ---
I make sure that FoxitReader is in edit mode ; not in read mode.
If it is in read mode, I do Ctrl+H (can also be done by right-click menu or clicking the button on the right side to toggle the mode)
On FoxitReader menu bar, I click "Select Text" menu button.
I select the text I want to copy, Right-click the selection, and choose "Copy to Clipboard"
On Internet Explorer command bar, I click "Send To OneNote".
I go to OneNote window, and see that a new page has been created.
In that page, a link to my pdf file is in the note-container.
It says "Inserted from <file://xyz>"
"xyz" is the complete path including pdf-file name.
I click the spot above the link and paste the text I previously copied.
That's it.
Note:
- If I want to be precise: While copying the text from pdf, I will take a glance of the page number and add it below the pasted text in OneNote. Anyway, the search function of pdf reader can be used to find the copied text for later purpose.
- The fact that the page title is black does not really bother me since I will move the page to the proper section group and, perhaps, sub-page. I will know what the page is about without the page title.
==========
I am sorry if this does not help you.
Thanks
.
I was told that I could paste text from a PDF, such as a scientific article, into OneNote and the program would automatically create a citation for the pasted text. How do I do this? Is there a way for the pasted text (from a PDF) to at least have a link to the file it came from?
I do not want to import the whole PDF into the notebook. I just need a few lines here and there, but I do need to know where the notes came from so that I can use them to write proposals and papers.
