Hi Abhinav,

As per the issue description you receive an error message while installing Office 2013 program.

I would like to ask few questions on the issue:

  1. Are you installing Office 2013 via disk or from the downloaded setup file?
  2. Do you have multiple versions of Office installed on the system?

You usually receive this error message if the setup is unable to read the particular file. If you are installing Office 2013 via disk then save the setup file from the disk on the system and then run the setup from the saved location:

·         Create a folder on the desktop.

·         Copy the content from the cd and paste it in the folder on the desktop.

·         Click on the .exe file and run the installation from the desktop and check if it helps.

If you have downloaded Office 2013 setup file then re-download the file, save the setup file on the system and then run the setup from the saved location.

I hope the above suggestions help. If you need further assistance reply and will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

This did not resolve the problem.

After doing some digging, I noticed that the MD5sum for Proof.Cab does not match the one listed in setup.xml.  I copied proofing.de-de\proof.en\proof.cab to proofing.en-us\proof.en\proof.cab (md5sum matches what setup.xml expected) and was able to progress beyond that message but now I'm running into the same issue with InfoPath.WW\InfWW.cab.  This affects both 32bit and 64bit versions.

    Hi Anula,

Thanks for this suggestion, but it did not work for me. I had problems last month trying to load the Office 2013 program on my old computer because of the same problem. That computer had multiple copies of Office. I bought a refurbished computer today and it still does not load because of the missing file. I did copy the whole cd and paste it to the desktop. However, it stops in the exact same place. Can't Microsoft supply this one file as it looks like this is a common problem over many years.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Jean

I am also having this problem.  My machine came with the Windows 8 and the trial version of Office 365 installed.   I purchased Office 13 on a disk and am getting the same message.  I saved the contents of the disk on my desktop but still got the same message.  I have already uninstalled Office 365 in preparation for this install so am now without any capabilities.
