Original Title: Error 1406

I have Windows Vista and MS Office Pro 2007. Frequently when using Works, I get Error 1406, "Setup cannot write the value to the registry key... Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry ..." It requests I insert the MS Works disk to install missing componanents, but then it doesn't recognize the certified, registered disk! WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??? Thanks in advance.

It's a "windows access rights" problem. Here are some potential solutions. You'll have to "change the names" to fix your Works problem, but the general idea applies:

Code 1401, 1402, 1406 Error or “program not installed for current user” “Setup cannot create Registry Key” “Setup cannot write the value to the registry key”- Error Installing Office or Opening Office App or Office File - FIX IT - Manual fix OPA11.dat / Opa12.dat / DATA.dat- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838687
