Formulas do not recognize when data is pasted, multiple numerical and text string data points

Excel 2010

I created a template email for use in Outlook that contains a column for data entry

Staff enter unique number and text string data points into the column

I receive the email and subsequently copy the column of data and paste it into the orginal, matching workbook

The workbook has formulas that should recognize the text strings and subsequently calculate results

However, the formulas do not recognize the copied text...and no calculations occur

if I type in the exact same data, one cell at a time...the formulas recognize the text string

For whatver reason, excel is not recognizing the pasted data

I've attempted different methods of paste with the same result

Suggestions?

    Hi,.

When copying data from Outlook to Excel. some redundant characters have got copied.  Click on any cell in the pasted data, press F2 and select one space looking character from the right.  Copy that character and press Ctrl+H.  In the Find What box, press Ctrl+V and click on Replace All.

    Does this work?
