I had successfully synced all of my one note notebooks with Windows Live for months then suddenly continuously get this error message everytime I attempt to sync: This operation returned because the timeout period expired. (Error code: 0x5B4). I had started using Health Vault when this problem began. I have erased my cookies and caches and tried repairing Office but it is still not working, Help!

I had this problem too, turns out I have two accounts (personal and professional, they have different emails) that I was logged in in the same time, and a notebook on each, both failing to sync. Shared each notebook with myself (both of my email addresses), and both notebooks sync now.

Also, my notebooks were not set to sync automatically. Make sure that "sync automatically whenever there are changes" is chosen on the Shared Notebook Synchronization" page (opens if you right-click the tab for your notebook and chose "Notebook sync status")

Does your phone support Proxy Settings?

If so, disable the proxy settings and verify the results.

Try to sync using Mobile data/Wi-Fi connections and check if the issue is due to connectivity.

If none of the steps mentioned above help, then save all SkyDrive notebooks locally on PC. Remove all notebooks from SkyDrive as well as the mobile.

Upload the files again to SkyDrive and check if they sync.

If the issue still persists, then create new OneNote notebook and verify the results.
