How do I remove Read Only from a database?

Anonymous

I read the responses posted to other users.  My computer is stand alone, not on a network.

It also appears that my database is corrupt.  It is copied from CD.  What can I do about it?

Thank you.

Can you open it if you hold down the shift key before you open it and keep holding down shift until it opens?

What version of access was the database built in?

Your post says A2003 - are you using A2003 to open this database?

Where in your computer did you put the database? - for example in MyDocuments, in a new folder on the C drive, somewhere else?

Was the database in a zipped folder on the CD?

  1. What makes you think it is corrupt?
  2. If you copied it from a CD, it may be that the file's Read-only attribute has been set.  Right click the file, choose Properties from the popup menu, and look at the Attributes checkboxes on the General page of the property sheet,  If Read-only is checked, uncheck it.

    1. When the database is first opened, error messages notify me that this database is Read only and that I will not be able to save any changes.  When I open Properties, I find there is no check mark next to Read only.

    2.  I get error messages when try to do something saying the database may be corrupt.  This happens even right after I have copied from CD/
