Restricting access to view-only on integrated MS Planner Sharepoint page

Question

Currently MS Planner does not support setting view/read-only permissions for plans. I'm trying to work around this by integrating my Plan into a sharepoint page and setting the page as view/read-only. However, this doesn't seem to be working. I've set it so that all members of the sharepoint site only have view/read-only accesss to the sharepoint page, however members can still open the page and edit the plan. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does planner not work even with sharepoint permissions?

Per my test, I could set the read-only permission through: select the page > Manage access > Advanced(at the bottom of the box) > stop inheriting >grant new permissions ( for example I grant read-only permission to luyi)

As a result, the account(luyi) can’t edit the plan.

You could check the permission of the page: Manage access > advanced > check permissions ( in my case, luyi has been granted read-only permission correctly)

Hi @Yi Lu_MSFT , thanks for the in-depth response. I performed the same steps as you on my sharepoint, however even with the read only permissions explicitly stated for specific members on my planner page the same as in your picture, those members are still able to make changes to the planner. Do you know why this might be happening. I'm certain I've done exactly as you described. I also put all members to read only for the entire site and the planner is still able to be edited.
