can't access slide elements

I have to put a slideshow that has LOTS of custom animation into someone else's slide (recipient) layout. I cannot find a way to access the recipient slideshow border and a couple other background elements. They do not appear in Master view, and do not appear in the selection pane in Normal view. Where else would these elements be stored so I can copy/paste them?

cayce1,

One final question. What steps did the author of this file use to insert the background image this way so it wasn't accessible? I ask becasue I can see where this could be useful when you want to "lock" the image.

Right click your slide, choose format background, choose the picture fill radio button, browse to your picture, select it, click Insert. Then in the dialog, click Close.

If it was, wouldn't I be able to see it and select it from the selection pane? It doesn't appear there or in Master slide view either.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone here......do do do, do do do....

Could the picture fill be on each individual slide?

Right-click on master slide, it shows solid fill>white.

I don't think I was clear in my first post. I not only cannot select these background elements, I cannot see them in master slide view. Since they are not selectable through the selection pane in Normal view, it leads me to believe they are on the Master slide, but invisible somehow.

I tried saving the recipient slideshow as a .potx and made it a theme. But when I do this, I still cannot see the elements.

Any ideas on where these background elements could be ?

Could it be a picture fill in the background?

If you right click on the Slide Master and choose Format Background, you can check to see if Picture or Texture Fill is being utilized.
