Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Program Files/Microsoft Office 12\OIS.PIP

For reasons unknown, my Office programs no longer work.  When I try to open an Excel or Work document it proceeds to a dialog box that states: Preparing to install.      Then it tries to give the impression that it is installing, stating: Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.      Then the next dialog states: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Program Files/Microsoft Office 12\OIS.PIP. Verify that you have access to that directory.     When I cancel that out it state: Fatal error during installation.     What to do?

1310 is a Windows Access Rights problem. Windows is not giving you the required access to update files (in this case according to the error message) or Registry entries.

Here are a couple of possible fixes. If they don't work, I have more:

1310 "Error writing to file …"  message when you install Office 2000 -http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296175****

Error 1310 -  "An Internal Error has occurred” or a “Setup cannot create the folder” - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306986
