Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. As I understand you are getting an error 2906 while installing Office 2010 program. Let me help you with the issue.
I have a quick question for you:
How are you trying to install Office? Is it through disc or downloaded file?
Verify if you a have multiple versions for installed on the computer by going to control panel, programs and features list.
Step 1:
If you find any, you may run the below fix it to remove Office traces complete from the computer.

Once the Office traces are removed, restart the computer in clean boot and then try to install Office 2010, check if it helps:

Note: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode once troubleshooting is completed
Clean boot is performed to disable all startup programs and 3rd party services on the machine and check if they are conflicting with the Office program.
If so, you may disable the unwanted software those conflict with the suite or get them updated.
