AIP Label Publishing

Question

Hi,

I have a customer who has existing AIP labels published to all users in the environment. I need to modify these labels but want to ensure that the changes don't affect all users.

My plan is to unpublish the existing labels and edit then re-publish to targeted users only instead of the whole org. They currently only use the labels to restrict Sharing capability on SharePoint sites (Policies target Sites, Unified Groups only)

Question I have is:

If I unpublish the labels, will it remove them from the SharePoint sites they are currently configured on? As in, can I unpublish the labels but still have the configuration applied to the SPO sites that have these labels configured as the "Sensitivity Policy"?
