How do we create an MSProject 'View' with tasks not indented and excludes summary tasks. I could get this through Excel report, but could not find a way to get this in View format.

Pls advise on the steps?

Thanks in advance..

Hi John,

I only found it as a button that can be inserted in a custom tab on the ribbon (Indent Tasks)

Greetings,

    stct80,

Well, not indented is not in the cards unless you manually eliminate summary tasks and you really don't want to do that. Simply not displaying summary lines is a lot easier. If you are using Project 2010, go to Format/Show/Hide and uncheck the "Summary tasks" option. As I recall (from memory) for earlier versions of Project you will need to create a new filter that looks for all tasks with a "no" in the Summary field.

    Hope this helps.

    John

Yes, thats correct. However, since there is just one group, all the tasks show up under the same. I did not notice any other group.

A known problem, which we can train users to ignore the group line. Should that not work?

    stct80,

Okay, but the grouping function creates its own summary line so how does that help? Maybe I missed something in your intent.

    Thanks John!

I think, I just found another workaround by using 'Group by' functionality.  A dummy field if used for Group by and then grouping by the field, may work in this case.. Hopefully there is no other hidden issue :-)
