I switched from word 2010 pc to word 2011 mac. Now the text in my document map is tiny.  i can not read it.  i can still select in the area and it moves to that location but i have no idea where i am going.  I tried to zoom but no luck.  Any suggestions?

The size of the text is determined by a paragraph style called "Document Map." So now you know what to do.

(Well, in case you don't, just select Format > Style… in the main menu bar, click on the style name, then on the Modify button and set it to a larger point size.)

That should happen automatically, as long as the titles have paragraph styles Heading 1 (for main titles), Heading 2 (for subtitles), etc. applied to them.

If you have used other style names instead, go to Outline View (second icon at the bottom-left of your document, or select View > Outline), select each title and apply the proper Level using the dropdown menu at the top left. However, it is much easier to use Word's default Heading styles.

You can modify the Heading styles to look like you want. For this, again, you would use Format > Styles.

Thanks a bunch.  Worked great for the text, however the little arrows for the different levels are all on the same vertical line.  Do you know how to get them to stagger based on the outline level.   Thx btw for the "incase you don't" know extra text.  Helped :)
