Shared resource pool does not reflect changes in project

Hello all

I'm working with a shared resource pool in Project 2010, on a really small scale - just for three projects, with all files stored on my laptop.

The shared file seems to be correctly linked to each of my projects; when I open one of the project files, the resource file opens up too.

The problem I'm getting comes with making any changes to the resources. So, if I make a change to an hourly rate, or add a new resource, via the Resource Sheet in the project file (i.e. NOT the resource pool file), everything seems OK - the plan correctly recalculates, etc. I can see the changed data if I have a look at the Resource Sheet in the resource pool file too. So, I save the project file, am asked if I'd like to update all open resource pool files, say yes..... if I then close everything down & re-open, all of the changes that I have made are *not* reflected in either file.

It's not a massive big deal - I've got a workaround in that I can close the project file, then open up the resource file r/w and make the changes. It's just a bit irritating, doesn't seem to me that this is how it should be!

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

    Hello deathshead75,

When you create the link between the sharer files and the pool, there is an option "On conflict with calendar or resource information" and options for "Pool takes precedence" or "Sharer takes precedence."  The default is "Pool takes precedence."  As you are making changes to resource information in the sharer file it keeps getting over written by the pool when you save.

The challenge is if you set every share to "sharer takers precedence" you may also fun into conflicts between changes in each sharer file.  My recommendation is to stay with the pool taking precedence and then making all changes in the pool file.

    I hope this helps.

    Julie
