Image hyperlinks aren't visible when PPT is saved as PDF (Mac, Big Sur)

Since upgrading to my new Macbook Air running Big Sur, PPT no longer sustains hyperlinks associated with objects (images, icons, etc. as PNG or JPG) when I export the file to a PDF.

Text hyperlinks still work, but only when specific text anchors are selected. I can no longer link an entire text object either.

Attached is the screenshot of my system and OS.

    Hi @RachelK
Where did you open the PDF?
What the version number of Office did you use?
Did this problem appear in existed PDF file or a new created PDF file?
I suggest you try to install the latest update for Office and test again.
Please be a bit more precise to explain your problem or you can upload a screenshot so that I can get more accurate solutions to this problem. I’m glad to help and follow up your reply.

Thank you @John Korchok This is so disappointing and will render PPT completely unusable for me if Microsoft doesn't fix the function for Mac. :-(

@John Korchok I did find a workaround (which is also paid... super annoying). You can use this tool to upload the PPT file and then it converts to PDF. All my hyperlinked images work when I use the 3rd party tool. https://smallpdf.com/ppt-to-pdf

Microsoft: this is disappointing. Very bad customer experience.

A workaround is to put a text box on top of the image, containing some random text (spaces don't work) with the link added to the text and the text transparency set to 100%.
