I am building a document in Publisher 2010 that will be made up of PowerPoint slides. I would like to edit the PowerPoint file (inserted as an object) without going through Publisher and have the inserted slide in Publisher update when I save the PowerPoint file. How can this be done?

Re-phrase:

I would like to edit a PowerPoint Presentation by opening the file. When that file is saved, I would like to see those changes where that PowerPoint Presentation has been inserted as an object in a Publisher file.

In general when you Insert > object and choose a particular file there is the option to 'link' the file. Check that option and when you change the linked file, the next time you open the Publisher file it should update. I haven't tried this with PP, but it should work.
