I get Microsoft Visual Basic pop up box with "Compile error in hidden module:this document" everytime I open or close word 2007. How do I resolve?

I have followed the instruction for Add-in (templates) and Universal Translator solution but neither of these seem to be the cause.

thanks for reply - however I really need a true dummies step by step guide - I don't know how to do the things you are asking me to try above ie. search for file in Windows: etc?

With Windows 7, the Normal.dotm template will be located in the following folder:

    C:\Users[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

With Word not running, rename that template to OldNormal.dotm and then re-start Word.  When you do that, new Normal.dotm template will be created.

You should also see the article  Troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word 2010, 2007, or 2003 at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us/ to which Stefan previously r eferred you.  It contains a guided help facility, an automated Fixit button and detailed information on how to manually implement fixes including that detailed above relating to the Normal template.

If renaming the Normal template doesn't help, you'll have to try the troubleshooting techniques for add-ins (template add-ins as well as COM add-ins), which are also discussed in the linked article.

I have that problem:  Compile error in hidden module: Numbering2007.  I did rename the Normal.dotm in order to generate a new one.  It did not help.

Try this: Exit Word and then rename the Normal.dotm file in your user profile. You can search for the file in Windows; be sure to search hidden files and folders. Alternatively, use the instructions in the "Rename the Normal.dot or Normal.dotm global template file" section of the KB article Troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word 2010, 2007, or 2003.
