Disable automatic decrease in line spacing while allowing AutoFit text to placeholder?

My PowerPoint template has placeholders set up to a particular Before-spacing (12pt) and Line spacing (Multiple / 1.2).

I appreciate the automatic resizing of the font to fit more text in the placeholder as I keep typing, so I leave AutoFit Text to Placeholder turned on. As more text is added and the font size decreased, though, PP also automatically decreases the line spacing, to 1.0, then 0.9 and 0.8. This makes the text look squished and unsightly.

I can go in and manually adjust the line spacing back up to 1.2, but this is manual work and undone everytime there is another automatic resize event.

Is there a way to suppress or disable this automatic line spacing adjustment?

Hey Tom

Autofit is an all or nothing setting in PPT 2011. I personally don't know of any way to only disable parts of it. If this is a feature you’d like to see in future versions of Office for Mac, be sure to send your feedback by clicking Help > Send Feedback… in any Office application or by clicking on the link below:
