text jumps into margin

Anonymous

When I get to the end of a line of text (as I'm typing), the text automatically jumps into the right margin and shows in a vertical line. Ive searched online for almost an hour, I am probably not wording the problem right in my searches.

If anyone can help me figure out why the text is doing this and how to stop it I would appreciate it. I am using a MS thesis template, but I forgot the version.

Im sorry I'm a day late.

here is a link to the page. I'm almost sure its formatting, but I cant figure it out

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ot5707/8751675929/in/photostream

and here is a screen shot of the page layout as you can see several of the "Arrange" section buttons are shaded

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ot5707/8751964081/in/photostream

Now Ive lost my formatting and every time I click my cursor into the text, the menu disappears, and "file" is highlit. I can't get any other menu to stay when I type.

Its only the text after the last character that goes into the margin. I'm on my mobile phone now but in the morning will post a screen shot

    For the response

No, pressing Enter is merely commencing a new paragraph.  Does all of the text that you have typed end up in the vertical line, or only the text that you type after reaching the end of the line?

Can you take a screen shot of the document and upload it to a public folder on your Windows Live SkyDrive and then post a link to it back here so that we can see it.

    Update-

Thanks for the above but I dont have that software, except the driver and renaming didnt help

I did figure out something though that leads me to believe its a formatting issue.

If I get to the end of the text (the last character prior to the cursor jumping into the margin)

and hit enter, then the cursor goes to the next line where its supposed to.

Does that narrow a format issue down?

It appears that there may be some hardware incompatibilities as well.  If you have the NVIDIA driver NVWGF2UM.DLL, try renaming it as: NVWGF2UM.old as was mentioned in:

From the File tab, select Options and then click on Advanced and then in the Display section of the dialog, check the box for Disable hardware graphics acceleration

For the error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program", use Windows Explorer to access the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15 folder and right click on WINWORD.EXE then on Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and uncheck all the boxes.  It has also been reported that the problem can be overcome by editing the registry at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.12\shell\Open and deleting the ddeexec key.

The ddeexec can also be deleted from

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.DocumentMacroEnabled.12\shell\Open.

That fix is described at ...

    http://www.dilloway.co.uk/there-was-a-problem-sending-the-command.html

It has been reported that uninstalling FastPictureView and FastPictureViewer Pro… overcomes the issue of the Minimize, Maximize, Close and Help buttons not being visible in Office 2013.
