Trigger / Button

Hi. I've tried to follow this tutorial(http://www.officeonemac.com/ppttips/show\_shape\_by\_clicking\_another\_object.html) for objects that show up when a "button" is clicked. But I can't find the trigger button. And all I end up with is that I can click on the slide and a new box appears. But what I want is a button that corresponds to one box only. Is that possible?

I can't comment on anything else about the site, but this particular "tutorial" doesn't even properly reference the commands or their locations as presented in PPT 2011. I.e.:

  • In the Slide Show menu of PPT 2011 the listing is Animations, not Custom Animation
  • There is no Custom Animation pane from which to select the animation. Animation effects in PPT 2011 are provided on the Animations tab of the Ribbon
  • In their demo file the Fade effect doesn't even show as being applied to the Oval when you select it

More to the point, Triggers is not a feature included in the Mac version in the first place. My guess is that the Effect isn't listed as being applied to the Oval because it was applied in a Windows version of the program using the Trigger feature which isn't supported in the Mac version. In all fairness, the Triggers will work when the slide is presented on a Mac, but you can't apply or modify them.

Long story short, you might want to contact the folks who published this & have them explain how they did it using only PPT 2011 - I sure can't :-)

Regards,

Bob J.

To paraphrase Steve Rindsberg (as quoted in my book, Powerful PowerPoint for Educators), triggers work on a Mac; all you need to get them to work is a PC.

    Thank you for your replies.

I'm glad that I didn't just miss something obvious.

It's a complete puzzle though why it isn't included in the mac version? It doesn't make sense.

I'll try and contact Microsoft to get them working on it hopefully. :D

    Best regards,

    Jonas
