Copy and paste markup comments

I want to copy the comments–just the comments–from a document and paste them into a new document. Is there a way to copy and paste all the comments at once, rather than having to copy and paste them one at a time?

There is no explicit command to select all Comments.

What may be useful is:

  1. Start at the beginning of the document
  2. Go to Edit> Find> Advanced Find & Replace
  3. Enter the characters ^a in the Find what: field
  4. Check the box for Highlight all items found in: Main Document
  5. Click Find All

That produces a pane @ the bottom of the document window which lists all comments. You can select & copy them there.

There's also the option to print just the Markup by going to the Copies & Pages list, selecting Microsoft Word then choose List of Markup from the Print What: list.

Yeah-- I should have mentioned that there are some variables that can come into play. If Headers/Footers. Footnotes, Endnotes, etc. are involved it's sometimes necessary to run the Find multiple times... or do as you did & specify a particular aspect of the document to be searched.

Thanks Bob. Regarding step #4, highlighting items found in Main Document yielded nothing, but highlighting items found in Comments produced a list of comments at the bottom of the page, and I was then able to copy and paste the comments into a separate document.

    Cheers,

    David
