I have seen this complaint several times in this forum, especially with Windows 7, and (for good reason) it is usually dismissed as a problem relating to the touchpad, or to voice recognition software, but since purchasing a desktop PC with Windows 7, I find this is an increasing problem that occurs in all software involving typing - and I don't have a touchpad nor voice recognition software.

I thought that it might be attributable to clumsy typing, but I am less sure of that. My typing skills have not changed since getting Windows 7, and I have tried it with both a wired keyboard and a Wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, both supplied by Microsoft and the effect is the same. Bluetooth is sometimes suggested as a cause but it occurred before installing the bluetooth dongle and occurs when the the dongle is removed.

I have become used to reviewing the text that I have typed to avoid this issue, but it seems to be a genuine problem not related to the hardware.

The same thing happens on my Windows 7 laptop. It did not occur with my Windows XP laptop and desktop (both now deceased).

Is it a laptop or a desktop?

If you are using a laptop then it’s due to the touch pad sensitivity. You can reduce or disable the sensitivity of touch pad from control panel-> mouse -> mouse properties. If issue still persists, check with an external keyboard.
