ctrl + arrow does not work

I use MS Word 2007 at work. I have Windows 7. I use keyboard shortcuts a lot to get through a document more quickly without having to change to the mouse. I especially use Ctrl + Arrow Keys to move through a document word by word instead of letter by letter. This shortcut has stopped working. I can use Ctrl + End or Ctrl + Home, but using the Ctrl + arrow will not work. It has to do with the control button, it seems because other shortcuts are not working the same either. Instead of Ctrl + Shift + arrow to select and highlight words, Shift + Arrow selects and highlights text instead. I don't know how or why this happened. It just started when I showed up to work yesterday morning. How do I fix it or undo what has been done to change it? Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community!

You've reached the right forum for your question.

    Provide us with the information

    1. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
    2. Do you receive any error message?
    3. What is the make and model of the computer?
    4. Is the issue confined when using keyboard shortcut in word?

Check for the behavior on a different computer or try a different keyboard on this computer and see if it works.

    Method 1:

Try on-screen keyboarding and checking if the issue persists.

Here is the article provided below:

Type without using the keyboard (On-Screen Keyboard)

    Method 2:

Step 1: Boot the computer in safe mode and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: If the issue does not persist in safe mode, perform a Clean Boot to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps to eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow Step 3 from the link to return the computer to Normal startup mode.

    Method 3:

You may try the steps from the knowledge base article and check.
