Problem with copy & paste in Excel 2010

I am running Excel 2010 on Windows 7. I am having a problem with the cut and paste command. This has worked OK for the few months I have been using the program, but the paste options have suddenly stopped working properly.  When I click on paste special, the only options shown are unicode text or text, with no explanation. When I copy and paste formulas, e. g. autosum,  it is not applying them properly to the selected cells, or it is just pasting the values of the copied cells. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office Home and Business 2010, but the problem is still there. Any ideas?

Skype has released an updated version of the Click to Call browser add-on that should be free of the problem mentioned above.

If you want it, go to http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/click-to-call/windows/ and click Download Now.

Are you able to use paste special options in other Office applications?

Try opening Excel in safe mode and check if the issue re-occurs.

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > Copy and Paste the following command in the open box and press Enter.

    Excel /safe

If Excel safe works as expected, disable the add-ins:

    a) Click on File menu, click Options > Add-ins > Go button besides Manage: Com-Add-in.

    b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox to disable them.

    c) Close the Office program and restart it.

    d) Disable each add-in one at a time, restart the Excel, and repeat the above procedure. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.

Since my last reply, I have run the repair to Microsoft Office feature through the control panel/programs and features/change.

This seemed to work at first, and the paste options were restored, and data and formulas were being pasted correctly.

However, although it worked properly  immediately after the repair, the problem has returned.

When I copy a cell with an autosum formula and paste to another cell, the corrrect formula is shown on the new cell, but it displays the value from the copied cell. The paste options have disappeared again.

I have tried opening Excel in safe mode as suggested, but the problem is still there.

It appears that paste special is not working properly in Word either. When I click on paste special

I get 'source unknown' and two options - unformatted text and unformatted inicode text.
