missing dataform 3[1].xlam file

Every time I load an existing excel file I get a message that says that my Dataform 3[1].xlam cannot be found.  I have searched for it and it is indeed missing.  The fault only appeared in the last few days, but I cannot find the file in any backups either.

When I answer OK the file I have requested appears and so the xlam file may not have been required.

What can I do to remedy this?

Mention the version of Office Excel installed on the system? Also are there any macros in the excel workbook?

Check for any active macros in Excel. If found you may remove and then check how excel works.

You may also repair Office you may repair Office 2010 installation and check if that helps:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/project-help/repair-or-remove-office-2010-HA010357402.aspx#_Toc269981340

If issue persists, open Excel in application safe mode and verify the results.

To do that, close Excel. Go to Start, click on All Programs and Accessories and then Run. In the Run open box type in ‘Excel /safe’ and hit ok. (Note: There is a space between Excel and /).

If Excel works in the safe mode, try the following steps applied for Excel 2010 and check:

Method 1:

Disable the Add-ins in Excel and check. Refer to the following link to access the Add-ins tab:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint-help/view-manage-and-install-add-ins-in-office-programs-HA010354315.aspx

Method 2:

You may also empty the Excel startup folder and check if it helps. Go to the following locations on the computer then delete all the contents for the specified folders:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP

Note: Ensure to take a back-up of these folders before deleting its content.
