I have user that cannot open excel protected file from Excel 2007.  Users knows the password but it is opening with blank spreadsheet only.  Tried the same file on Excel 2003, it works fine.  Is their any patch or option that we have to enable on Excel 2007?

Open the spreadsheet in Excel 2003 and remove the password. Once password is removed try opening in excel 2007 and then add the password to protect the spreadsheet to check if it helps.

You may also install the hotfix provided in the article below and check if that helps:

    Hi,

I tried this but didn't help. when I tried opening password protected excel 2003 file its complaining about incompatible encryption.

I think I have to clear the pwd in 2003 then open in 2007 and protect it again. is the encryption used in both version not compatible?

    Regards

    Sunil
