I have a document stuck in printer queue. It won't cancel, I've been trying since yesterday. I can't print anything else because it gets stuck in queue. I've disconnected printer, shut off computer, unplugged system, nothing works how do I get this to cancel without throwing away the printer?

    Hi Carlos,

    Thank you for choosing Microsoft Office Community and thanks for providing us an opportunity to assist you. By the description, I understand after you are unable to delete the word document in the print queue.

    Let us disable the print spooler from the Windows services. Follow the steps:

    1. Click on Start ->All Programs.
    2. Go to Accessories -> Click on RUN.
    3. Type services.msc -> Click **OK.**4. Double-click on the Print Spooler key.
    4. In the General tab, -> go to Startup Type.
    5. Set the value to Disabled -> Click Stop to disable the services.
    6. Click OK to apply the settings.

    Now you delete the Word document which is stuck in the print queue. Follow the same steps as given above and set the value to Automatic and Start the print spooler service.

    This should allow you to print the documents or any other files with the printer. . If you need further assistance, reply and we will be happy to help you.

    Thank You

    You skip to step 3 by simply typing SERVICES.MSC in the Start menu search field.

    Alternately, you can use the <WIN><R> key combo to display the Run dialog.

    But I don't know that turning the print spooler Off will clear that stuck job. It may, I just don't clear stuck jobs that way myself.

    To delete jobs from printer queue go into Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers (or Devices and Printers) > find the printer with the problem in the displayed list, double click on it > It should display the list of jobs printing. You should see one with "Error" in the Status column.  Right click on the job and select Cancel.

    You should also turn the printer off, pause for 30-60 seconds, then turn it on to clear any print jobs that may be "stuck" in the printer's memory.
