SSL error when opening PowerPoint 2010

We are currently experiencing a strange issue here. For no reason that we can think of, when students open PP they are presented with the following dialogue box message:

"Access to this webserver is disabled by default because it is controlled by basic authentication and does not use Secure Sockets Layer. Do you want to search MS for a solution…."

We have tried many of the MS Fixes (MSI-Regedit..etc) to no avail.

This is happening when they open the program locally on the client, we do not use or have IIS setup on the file server, nor do we have any webdav installations.

Here is the student setup:

  • Redirected Documents, picture, videos etc.. to a DFS share
  • Mandatory Desktop for all students
  • Full rights granted to the students folder within the shares

Has anyone seen this before???

This is a new issue, only started about a week ago, no changes have been made to any of the file servers, students permissions or Client images.

BTW, we don’t seem to be having this issue on staff machines.

Are you connected to a server, domain or a network?
