Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!

Dear Madam or Sir:

I am so sick of Microsoft it isn't funny!  I recently purchased Office Home & Student 2010 as a "Retail Package x3 Family Pack" disc, and I received two shipments for this order as the first disc would not install.  The error window that I received is as follows, and it occurred for both discs:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

                   “Big Red X Runtime Error!

                   Program D:\setup.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application’s support team for more information.”

May anyone have an intelligent answer as to why this may be happening?

Respectfully yours,

Gregory Falasz (******@hotmail.com)

Dear Mr. or Ms. (as I cannot determine your gender),

I have already managed to install my Office 2010 per a link that I received from the company that sent me the two non-installing discs.  However, perhaps I should have simply asked what the "Runtime Error!" was about?  Next, I may get into how thoroughly disgusting I find WORD 2010 to be.

    Respectfully,

    Greg Falasz

Dear Madam or Sir (as I still am unclear as to your gender):

I uninstalled the asinine Office 2010 (if you would like to receive a copy of the letter I wrote to Microsoft Corporate, provide me with your address and I will send you a copy), and re-installed my Office 2007 (which occasionally tells me "WORD has encountered an error" or a message to that effect).  I still have not received a coherent/intelligent reply as to what the problem may be with C++ and/or Runtime.

Remaining thoroughly disgusted with almighty Microsoft,

    Gregory Falasz

    Hi Greg,

Thank you for the reply and letting us know that you were able to install Office 2010.

The run-time library is an integral part of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. Most of the Microsoft programs (such as Microsoft Office 2010) that run under Windows are C or C++ compiled executable files. They require the run-time library to access other portions of the operating system.

The error mentioned in your original post ideally occurs when the Office application had a problem and Run-time could not handle it. The application terminates as Run-time is essential process for it to run.

Now coming to your experience with Word 2010. Can you please let us know the difficulties that you are facing, so we can help you with the issue.

Let us know if the information provided was helpful.

    Thank you.

    Hi Greg,

Let me help you install Office 2010.

This issue occurs due to security issues. Let us perform Windows Clean Boot following the steps from the link:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Ensure to restart the computer in the normal mode after troubleshooting.

Now install Office 2010 using the product key that came along with its purchase and verify the results.

    Thank you.
