Problem with MathType in Powerpoint

Hello, All:

I am using Office 2011 with Word and Powerpoint Version 14.3.6 on a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.

I just installed MathType 6.7e. So far it seems it works with Word. I can type some text, insert an equation, and then type more text following the equation. In other words, I can make the equation part of a sentence.

But with Powerpoint, when I insert an equation, it does not follow my text, but always lands at the center of my slide. I have to manually move the equation beside my text, but when I type more, the text will overwrite the equation unless I type several spaces to avoid covering the equation. This is apparently not the way it is intended to work.

Could anyone tell how to insert an equation among the text in Powerpoint?

Thank you.

--R.

MS removed the Recolor option for pictures, and since PPT treats equations as pictures ... sigh.

You can at least do this though:

Copy the equation, then paste special as a Drawing Object.

Then you can format the background to change the color if you like.

Thank you, Steve and Bob, for your replies.

Is it hard for PowerPoint to allow "inline" graphics or equations?

After trying a little bit with MathType, I decided to uninstall it with the "Uninstaller" that came with it---just to avoid complications that may arise especially when exchanging documents with colleagues who don't use MathType.

I will just settle with the Microsoft Equation Editor and be satisfied with the white background and black foreground when I need to use math equations.

I remember that I could change the equation color several years ago with the Microsoft Equation Editor. Now this function is disabled in Office 2011. Could this function be enabled again?

In PowerPoint, I can right-click an inserted equation and select Format Object ... -> Adjust Picture, but the "Recolor" option there is not enabled. Could you tell why this is the case?

    Thank you.

You may get an answer to that here, but you'll probably also want to check with the people who wrote MathType:

One possibility:  have you clicked within the text to put an insertion point where you want the equation to appear?
