I have just purchased the Home 365 version. Every time I start downloading, it says I already have a version on my computer. I've tried 'Fix It' and manually removed any old software, and it still won't download. Please help!

Hello Rhian,

As I understand you are unable to install Office 365 program on the computer as it says you have a beta version of Office program loaded on the computer. Let me assist you with the issue.

Did you save the Fix It in desktop before running it?

If not run Fix It again by saving it to uninstall the traces of Office 2013/365 program installed on the computer and then try to install the full version of Office that you had purchased. Refer to the link mentioned to run the automated troubleshooter from the following article to remove all traces of the new Office installed on the system.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Note: Save the fixit tool on the system and then run it from the saved location.

Once uninstall is complete, reboot the system and install Office 2013 program that you had purchased.

Note: If you have already run the fixit tool and it does not fix the issue then refer to the same article and follow the section “Manual steps to remove Office 365 Preview or Office 365 Click-to-Run installation” under "More Information" to manually uninstall Office program from the registry. Ensure to backup the registry before doing any registry modifications as mentioned in the article.

Check if this registry Key is present by going to the location provided below and deleting it and see if it helps:

1.       Click Start, click Run, type regedit and then click OK.

2.       Try locating this Registry Key and deleting it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Common\Smart Tag\Actions{B7EFF951-E52F-45CC-9EF7-57124F2177CC}

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up refer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

I hope the above suggestion helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you!
